Cinnamon, Ceylon (Powder)

  • Many of us may recognize the flavor of cassia* as cinnamon, but the only true cinnamon is Ceylon cinnamon - the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree (the cinnamon tree), native to Sri Lanka.  Our Ceylon Cinnamon Powder has a complex flavor that is delicately sweet, and slightly spicy, with a note of citrus.  Perfect for adding a light cinnamon touch to desserts.  Click on the "Recipe Ideas" tab to find out more.

We offer our Ceylon cinnamon in ground form, or in stick form (hand-selected to ensure you receive the highest quality product).

*In the US, because of the similarities in flavor, we generally recognize cassia as cinnamon (bark from cassia trees have a higher essential oil content than true cinnamon bark, giving cassia a more pronounced flavor and aroma than true cinnamon).  There are different types of cassia such as Vietnamese cinnamon (the sweetest & spiciest cinnamon), and Indonesian cinnamon (the most common cinnamon sold in grocery stores).  If you would like to learn more, explore our article "Spices Unearthed: Cinnamon & Cassia"
